Root Canal
If there’s inflammation or infection inside one of your teeth, your dentist may recommend root canal treatment. In fact, it may be the only way to save your tooth.

More about the procedure:
If you’re experiencing toothache or your tooth is looking darker than the others, it may be infected.
Even if you’re unsure, it’s best to play it safe. Give Haddenham Dental a call and tell us your symptoms. Our experts will make sure you receive the best possible treatment to save your tooth.
Teeth have roots which anchor them to the jawbone. Inside each tooth are nerves, otherwise known as the pulp, which sit inside the pulp chamber. The portion of the pulp chamber within the root is called the root canal.
Damage to your tooth can lead to infection of the pulp. If left untreated, this infection can spread and cause an abscess, a pus-filled swelling within your jaw. The pain can be intense and unforgiving.
The aim of root canal treatment is to save the pulp and prevent the tooth from having to be removed.
During the procedure, your tooth will be X-rayed to determine the nature and extent of the problem. Your dentist will inject the area with local anaesthetic to minimise your pain and discomfort. They will then clean and fill the inside of your tooth to clear out the infection and prevent further damage.
Private root canal procedures start from £350.
Root canal treatment should be fairly painless, as an anaesthetic is used to numb the area. In fact, root canal should alleviate a lot of the pain you were experiencing prior to your appointment.
Root canal is generally split into two visits. The first centres around your root canal being cleaned and disinfected, whilst the second involves filling and sealing.
Root canal is a highly effective procedure. Many teeth that have undergone the treatment last a lifetime.
